New Ventures is proud to announce the 2019 Night of Champion’s Outstanding Teacher and Teaching Assistant: Florence Strzebala and Michelle Lagana.

Florence Strzebala – Outstanding Teacher of the Year

Florence Strzebala, Outstanding Teacher of the Year

Florence Guarnera has been working at Integration Charter Schools for 3 years. Her time at ICS has been nothing but inspirational, motivational, and memorable. She started off her journey as a Teacher’s Assistant, then moved into a teacher’s position to teach English Language Arts. This year she started her journey in the field of special education and is so grateful for that experience. She looks forward to continuous growth within ICS. Florence has a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from the College of Staten Island and she has obtained her Master’s degree in Teaching Students with Disabilities for grades 7-12 from Touro Graduate School of Education.  She has a deep passion for art and music. On her time off she loves to spend time with her family, listen to music, paint, and read books. Above all, she has a deep passion for guiding her students towards the right path to help them achieve their personal and academic goals.

Michelle Lagana – Outstanding Teacher Assistant of the Year

Michelle Lagana, TA of the Year

Michelle Lagana has been a dedicated member of the New Ventures family for 3 years. During her time here, she has taken many leadership roles, including Testing Coordinator, Assistant Academic Advisor, and Internship Advisor, just to name a few. Having obtained her Bachelors of Science in Communications from the College of Staten Island, she is currently working towards her Masters of Science in Education. Michelle had found her passion in helping others while working at Eden II. Since then, she became determined and committed to dedicating her time and efforts to helping those who face challenges, living by the ICS and New Ventures value of Overcoming Barriers. Special thanks to her parents Paul and Carmella Lagana, for their continued support and guidance.
