Reopening Plan – Updated 3/6

Dear Stingray Families,

We hope this message finds you safe and healthy.

As stated in our last message, we explained we were planning for reopening for in-person instruction on, or after, March 8th.

Our plan now is to officially resume a blended learning model with in-person instruction, offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays for New Ventures’ students beginning  March 24th during the hours of 3:00 pm – 7:08pm. A MANDATORY opt-in form will be forthcoming to provide the opportunity to opt-in or out of in-person instruction for the remainder of the academic year. New metrocards will be provided to students who opt into in-person instruction. Please note that our Instructional Support Hours offered Monday – Thursday will continue to be provided through virtual meetings with teachers, by appointment only. Virtual learning will continue on Mondays and Tuesdays. Student commitments on Fridays, including Boot Camp and Edgenuity, will continue virtually as regularly scheduled.

Of course, should you wish for your student to remain a virtual learner for the remainder of the academic year, you can absolutely opt for that at any time. Please contact if this is what you would like to do.

All of our previous safety precautions to combat the spread of COVID-19, including but not limited to masks, social distancing, classroom sanitization, and hand sanitizing stations will continue to be maintained. Daily Health Screening surveys and temperature checks will resume for all staff and students coming into the building.

To remedy the learning loss that has undoubtedly occurred in the midst of COVID-19, we will be spending the spring and summer months heavily focused on learning recovery and on supporting our students’ social- emotional growth.

Our teams are hard at work revising, rewriting and assessing our curricula to ensure we address the significant gaps that students may be struggling with.

Lastly, we will be having a parent/student virtual meeting for anyone who is seeking further information regarding our reopening plans. An invitation will be going to all student and parent emails shortly.
